A boy named Morokuzu Takaaki wakes up to the sound of his doorbell. When he opens the door, he finds a beautiful girl on the other side. She immediately insists that he become her strategist. After a comedic exchange, Takaaki invites her inside his apartment to keep from disturbing his neighbors. Inside, the girl reveals her name to be Ryuubi Gentoku, a name from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story. The reason she insists on Takaaki being her strategist is because she misreads his name as Shokatsu Koumei (Their written similarly in Japanese), another name from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story. Takaaki tries to correct her, but she insists on him being who she thinks. Her goal is to become a king among kings and she needs Takaaki's help in order to do that. But he's not buying any of it.
